This is my anthem celebrating the mistakes
This is my word for all the would-be-greats fallen off the road
The ones who know the raw meaning of life but never had the chance to articulate the mess of worldly ways
Those lost, consumed, in eternal nights and days watching clocks manifest abandoned time notating our rising hate

This is for the people who are so angry that they burn from the inside out
The mad inferno melting away their feelings and annihilating their surroundings
You can start fires with their eyes and decimate entire cities

This is for the people who are alone
Crowded in rooms of silence and solitude
Shackled to fears and vices they can no longer control

This is for the kid sitting alone at school
He plays the fool hoping they’ll finally just leave him alone
This is for the woman who cries at night afraid she’ll never really know love
She only knows the rough kisses preceding screaming and dripping blood  
One day they were both found holding smoking guns

Yeah this is for them and this is for you

This is for you so stick your fucking head up
Shine like you’ve never shone before because you know that when you’re walking down the street you’re beautiful
Those eyes you see searing into your soul love you
Like I love you
With all of my heart

So don’t you dare stop fighting for what you believe in
Every small step is a victory to be praised like the defeat of racism
Homophobia
Sexism
And every other fear out there keeping you caged like the animal that you are not.

This is for you.
And this is for me.
The world is made up of nobodies.
Single souls crying out above the chaos that is embedded in our society.
Screaming a chorus so dissonant it wars with the steady beat of our sprinting feet
Just begging to be heard
A counter point with so many melodies
It’s waiting to be found
To be picked out of the surrounding white noise

Listen to what you hear
Put away your hatred and your fears
And embrace the only sound that matters
The resounding cry of love.
